About the role
Speedy is a major UK hire specialist offering a broad selection of tools, specialist hire equipment, plant, and support services for projects of every kind. This position is for a Hire Controller based in Poole, working from the depot and playing a key role in day-to-day operations, sales support, and customer service.
What you'll do
The Hire Controller manages the hire journey from order receipt through to delivery and collection. The role involves coordinating closely with teams across the depot, keeping in contact with stock colleagues, drivers, and engineers, and making sure customers receive the right equipment without unnecessary delays.
This is a desk-based position that depends heavily on relationship management, clear communication, and smooth internal coordination to keep service levels high and customers satisfied.
Working pattern
Working hours are Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 17:00, averaging 42 hours per week.
What you'll need
Success in this role calls for strong organisation, confident written and verbal communication, adaptability, and a genuine willingness to learn and grow. A full driving licence is required, along with prior experience in the hire sector or in a comparable sales or operational environment. You should also be able to support the wider team in delivering the ESG strategy, Decade to Deliver.
