Project Engineer

Role Overview

This position involves delivering technical and coordination support for 380 kV substation projects. The role focuses on making sure project work follows the required specifications and standards while supporting design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning so the project is completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Project Planning and Coordination

• Contribute to the preparation of execution plans, timelines, and manpower or resource allocation for 380 kV substation activities.
• Work closely with design, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to keep tasks moving according to plan.
• Track project status, identify slippages, and suggest practical corrective measures.

Design and Technical Support

• Examine drawings, technical submissions, and vendor documents to confirm alignment with project requirements and applicable international standards such as IEC, IEEE, and SEC.
• Provide engineering support through design, installation, testing, and commissioning stages.
• Help resolve technical and interface issues involving civil, electrical, and mechanical disciplines.

Construction Supervision

• Monitor the installation of GIS, transformers, protection and control systems, high-voltage equipment, and related auxiliary systems for the 380 kV substation.
• Make sure construction methods, safety practices, and quality controls are properly followed.
• Carry out site checks and confirm that completed work matches approved drawings and specifications.

Testing and Commissioning

• Support primary and secondary system testing and commissioning activities.
• Ensure the system is prepared for energization in line with project milestones.
• Take part in FAT and SAT with suppliers and clients.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Communicate with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to support smooth project delivery.
• Assist the project manager in meetings, progress updates, and approval follow-ups.
• Help maintain clear technical communication between internal teams and external stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

• A bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or another related engineering field is required.
• Postgraduate study or specialized training in Power Systems, Substation Engineering, or Project Management will be an added advantage.
• Strong familiarity with IEC, IEEE, SEC, and other relevant electrical standards is expected.
• Knowledge of SCADA, RTU, and substation automation systems is required.
• Applicants should have 5 to 7 years of experience in power transmission projects, including 3 to 5 years specifically in 380 kV substation work covering design, construction, testing, or commissioning.
• At least 2 years of experience in a similar role is needed.

This is a full-time onsite role based in Al Khobar, Eastern, Saudi Arabia.
