Retail Store Manager

Role Overview

The Retail Store Manager is responsible for keeping day-to-day store activities running smoothly, lifting sales results, guiding the team, and delivering strong customer experiences that support store profitability. The role also involves hiring and developing staff, maintaining inventory accuracy, improving visual presentation, managing budgets, and making sure the store follows safety and compliance standards. Performance is also tracked through sales analysis and target achievement, while maintaining a productive and positive store atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily store operations, including cleanliness, opening and closing routines, and cash handling processes.
• Set sales goals, review performance trends, and manage budgets with a focus on improving profitability.
• Hire, train, coach, and schedule store employees while building a motivated, service-oriented team.
• Monitor inventory, place stock orders, carry out audits, and apply loss-prevention practices.
• Handle customer concerns, ensure high service standards, and execute visual merchandising plans that help drive sales.

Requirements

• Prior experience in retail store management or in an assistant store manager role.
• Strong leadership, communication, motivation, and people-management abilities.
• Comfort with reviewing sales data, managing profit and loss, and developing action plans.
• Good planning and time-management skills to keep operations organized.
• Graduate degree required.
• Availability to work on weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
• Working knowledge of retail POS systems and inventory software.
• Relevant retail experience of 6 to 12 years.

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Bankura, West Bengal, India.
