About the role
This position acts as the specialist authority for passenger screening technology, ensuring equipment and applications remain reliable, secure, compliant, and aligned with operational needs across HIA and DIA. It connects the business, suppliers, and project teams to shape screening solutions that are robust, scalable, and ready for future requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee upkeep of the passenger screening equipment and related applications used across HIA and DIA.
- Partner with the business to interpret operational challenges and convert them into clear technical requirements.
- Lead technical support for passenger screening initiatives and coordinate between suppliers and the project management team.
- Research new trends and technologies in passenger screening and recommend solutions that deliver measurable improvements, enhance the traveller experience, and protect company information assets and IT infrastructure.
- Identify technology and operational risks related to passenger screening systems and develop mitigation plans.
- Ensure appropriate controls are designed, implemented, and maintained within a secure operating environment.
- Support architecture governance for passenger screening systems across assigned business units, ensuring alignment with agreed requirements from internal and external stakeholders.
- Assess functional and non-functional requirements and provide recommendations that fit established frameworks.
- Independently analyse the impact of major solution design options for passenger screening deployments.
- Develop solutions that are scalable, resilient, and sustainable while meeting business needs.
- Track new regulations such as ECAC, TSA, and QCAA requirements and ensure the systems and equipment stay compliant.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of hands-on experience with passenger screening systems such as X-ray units, CT machines, body scanners, explosive trace detectors, and bottle liquid scanners.
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience working directly with multiple screening equipment manufacturers and assessing new technologies.
- Background in implementing and maintaining passenger screening systems in a medium to large airport or aviation setting.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements and certifications within the aviation industry.
