About the internship
This six-month game design internship is based in Delhi and is part of the SPAAK Group’s gaming initiative, SPAAK KAI LLP, with hiring managed by SMARRTIF AI. The studio is focused on interactive entertainment, immersive experiences, and the use of modern technology in game creation.
About the company
SMARRTIF AI is an EdTech consulting firm that supports learners from non-technical backgrounds in moving into AI/ML, data analytics, and business analytics through tailored learning and digital services. It also supports hiring for the SPAAK Group’s gaming vertical, helping identify and develop talent for creative technology and game development roles. The SPAAK Group, founded in 2006 by Mr. Pankul Rathore, works across biomining, bioremediation, waste-to-energy, waste-to-compost solutions, and civil construction. SPAAK GAMES, launched on 2 July 2025, is the group’s entry into gaming and interactive entertainment.
Role overview
The selected intern will contribute to the design of gameplay systems and player experiences, with a strong focus on documentation, collaboration, and iterative improvement. The role involves shaping mechanics, balancing progression, and refining game flow to support the overall creative vision.
What you will work on
- Build and document gameplay systems, core mechanics, loops, and progression frameworks.
- Design levels, missions, and challenges that fit the story and core gameplay structure.
- Prepare and maintain Game Design Documents, flowcharts, and wireframes.
- Coordinate with developers, artists, and producers to translate design ideas into the game.
- Keep designs balanced, optimized, and aligned with the project direction.
- Join brainstorming sessions to contribute fresh ideas and feature concepts.
- Review playtest results and user feedback to improve player experience.
- Tune pacing, difficulty, and balance based on testing insights.
- Make sure gameplay supports the intended narrative tone, player psychology, and engagement goals.
Requirements
- Good grasp of game design fundamentals, including player motivation and pacing.
- Ability to turn abstract ideas into playable systems and structured gameplay.
- Experience making design docs, mockups, and gameplay flow diagrams.
- Understanding of balancing progression, challenge, and retention systems.
- Comfort working with Photoshop, Figma, Canva, and Google Sheets.
- Working knowledge of Unreal Engine and Unity Engine.
- Basic familiarity with Maya and Blender.
- Ability to use Google Docs for documentation.
- Strong understanding of puzzle games and hyper-casual games.
- Good analytical thinking, communication, and problem-solving ability.
- Awareness of how AI can be used in game design and analytics-led decisions.
- Understanding of level design, game economy structures, and live operations.
Eligibility
Applications are open only to candidates who can work full time in office, can begin the internship between 2 July 2026 and 6 August 2026, can commit for 6 months, and have relevant skills and interest. The opportunity is specifically open to Computer Science Engineering students.
