The team is hiring an Associate to support the origination and execution of strategic advisory and capital-raising assignments.
This position suits someone with strong analytical ability, a disciplined work style, and the confidence to operate effectively in a demanding, collaborative investment banking environment.
What you will do
- Take ownership of key workstreams on active M&A, equity, and debt transactions, including modelling, valuation work, due diligence coordination, and preparation of client-facing materials.
- Partner with senior bankers to help manage relationships with important financial institution clients and contribute meaningfully in meetings and strategic discussions.
- Carry out detailed sector and company research across FIG subsectors such as banking, insurance, asset management, and fintech to support transaction origination.
- Develop, assess, and improve sophisticated financial models such as DCF, LBO, trading comparables, precedent transactions, and merger models, adapted to FIG-specific measures like embedded value, insurance reserves, and regulatory capital ratios.
- Create pitch books, investor presentations, and other marketing collateral alongside analysts and senior team members.
- Support the development of junior colleagues by reviewing work, providing feedback, and helping to raise the quality and accuracy of deliverables.
- Keep regulatory and accounting implications in mind when evaluating deal structures and transaction options.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree from a strong academic institution, ideally in finance, accounting, economics, or a closely related subject; an MBA or other advanced qualification is considered an advantage.
- 3 to 5 years of investment banking experience focused on FIG.
- Strong command of Excel and PowerPoint, with advanced financial modelling capability.
- Good understanding of FIG market dynamics, key sector drivers, and relevant accounting and regulatory frameworks such as Basel III, Solvency II, and IFRS/GAAP for insurers.
- Previous exposure to regulatory capital advisory, financial institution M&A, or capital markets transactions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients and senior bankers.
- Self-driven, ethical, resourceful, and comfortable solving complex problems independently and as part of a team.
- Adaptable in a fast-moving global banking setting and able to handle multiple priorities at once.
- Highly organised, very detail-oriented, and capable of working under pressure to tight deadlines.
- Collaborative mindset with respect for diverse viewpoints and a commitment to teamwork.
