About the company
Carbelim is a climate-tech startup working on microalgae-based carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS). The team develops biomimetic façades and photobioreactor systems designed to capture CO₂, improve urban air quality, and turn biomass into biochar and verified carbon credits. The company has been incubated at IIT Madras and has received recognition from MIT Solve, Forbes India, and the World Filtration Institute as it expands science-led solutions for healthier and more climate-resilient cities.
Role overview
The organization is hiring a proactive Bid Manager to support non-dilutive funding and the business pipeline. This role focuses on finding and pursuing grant opportunities, locating and responding to relevant tenders, and producing strong written material that supports proposals and company positioning.
Key responsibilities
- Research, monitor, and shortlist grant opportunities across government R&D schemes, climate and cleantech funds, accelerators, and international programs.
- Prepare complete, accurate, and compliant grant submissions.
- Search government and corporate portals for suitable tenders, review eligibility, prepare bid documents, and submit responses within deadlines.
- Create and update proposal copy, pitch decks, capability statements, website content, and outreach materials that explain technical CCUS work in clear, persuasive language.
- Keep a running tracker of opportunities, due dates, submissions, and results.
- Work closely with technical and leadership teams to collect the information needed for applications.
- Check that every submission follows formatting, eligibility, and compliance requirements.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in grant writing, tender or bid management, proposal writing, or content/business development.
- Excellent written English and strong content development skills.
- Ability to identify funding and tender opportunities and manage the application process from start to finish.
- Strong attention to detail, comfort with deadlines, and ability to handle several submissions at the same time.
- Capability to understand technical concepts and explain them clearly; experience in climate-tech or sustainability is an advantage.
- Prior exposure to government tender portals and grant platforms is preferred.
Nice-to-have experience
- Background in climate-tech, cleantech, sustainability, NGO, or startup settings.
- Familiarity with carbon markets, carbon dioxide removal (CDR), carbon credits, or ESG-related topics.
