Role overview
Sage is looking for a Business Development Representative to be the first point of contact for potential small and medium-sized business customers. In this role, you will create early interest in Sage’s solutions, start meaningful conversations, and help open the door to new business opportunities. The position is centered on trust-building, understanding customer pain points, and creating strong engagement from the outset.
What you will do
- Reach out to SMB owners and key decision-makers through outbound channels such as phone, email, LinkedIn, and similar methods.
- Present Sage’s offering in a way that clearly shows how it can support business growth and success.
- Assess opportunities using qualification approaches such as BANT or SPIN.
- Respond to objections with professionalism, curiosity, and confidence.
- Develop relationships that can translate into long-term customer value.
- Work closely with sales colleagues to move qualified opportunities toward revenue.
What you should bring
- Background in lead generation or outbound sales.
- Understanding of BANT, SPIN, or similar qualification frameworks.
- Ability to manage objections and steer customer conversations effectively.
- Self-driven approach with a strong focus on building pipeline and identifying opportunities.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to establish rapport quickly.

- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related discipline is preferred, although equivalent practical experience may also be accepted.
- At least 1 year of experience in sales or business development is required.
- Experience working across APAC markets, such as Singapore and Malaysia, is needed, along with the ability to adapt to varied cultural and commercial settings.
- There is a strong preference for candidates who can apply AI and modern sales technologies to improve productivity.
- Experience using Salesforce CRM is highly desirable.
