About the role

The Department of Education, Western Australia is creating a talent pool of cleaners for permanent and fixed-term opportunities that may become available during the 2026 school year and through to the end of Term 2, 2027. These vacancies may be full-time or part-time, and appointments can be made at any point for roles starting within that timeframe.

About Canning College

The role

Successful applicants will be expected to perform internal cleaning tasks in line with departmental procedures. This includes looking after carpeted and hard floor areas, cleaning toilets, furniture and fittings, washing windows, dusting, removing rubbish, cleaning drinking troughs and handling other routine cleaning duties.

The position also involves outdoor cleaning work such as maintaining verandas and covered spaces, removing cobwebs, carrying out general external cleaning and completing other tasks requested by the Cleaner-in-Charge.

The department is looking for someone with strong attention to detail who can work effectively alone as well as with others to help maintain a safe and tidy school environment. You should be well organised, trustworthy, dependable and punctual, with a solid understanding of cleaning equipment and safe cleaning methods and practices.

Eligibility

To be employed, you must hold a valid Working With Children Check, agree to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number from the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before commencement. You must also be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident, or hold a valid visa with the appropriate work rights for the appointment period.
