Mechanical Engineer - Data Center

Role overview

This opportunity is with a growing design and engineering firm working on data center and other mission-critical developments in Doha, Qatar. The Mechanical Engineer will contribute to the planning, coordination, and delivery of mechanical building systems, with a focus on reliable, efficient solutions that satisfy project specifications, industry codes, and client expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the design and development of mechanical services for data center and mission-critical projects.
• Draft mechanical drawings, HVAC layouts, equipment schedules, technical submittals, and engineering documentation.
• Assist with HVAC design work covering chilled water systems, DX cooling, ventilation, and precision cooling arrangements.
• Support fire protection design tasks for hydrants, sprinkler networks, foam systems, and clean-agent solutions.
• Help with public health system design, including water supply and drainage networks.
• Carry out cooling-load studies, airflow calculations, and equipment sizing.
• Coordinate mechanical inputs with electrical, architectural, structural, and BIM stakeholders.
• Check shop drawings, technical submissions, and material data against project requirements.
• Take part in design reviews, coordination sessions, site visits, inspections, and field checks.
• Assist during construction, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting phases.
• Ensure all designs meet applicable standards, codes, and client-specific requirements.
• Keep project records organized and deliver assigned outputs accurately and within deadlines.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 2 to 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering or building services design.
• Prior exposure to HVAC design and building services projects is preferred.
• Working knowledge of HVAC systems and standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, and CIBSE.
• Good command of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; familiarity with Revit, BIM workflows, HAP, or similar tools is an added advantage.
• Understanding of cooling systems used in commercial facilities and data centers.
• Awareness of BIM coordination and multidisciplinary project settings.
• Strong analytical ability, problem-solving skills, communication skills, and coordination capability.
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving team environment with a sharp eye for detail and a commitment to quality engineering.
• Interest in building technical expertise in mission-critical and data center infrastructure.

Compensation

The role offers a monthly salary in the range of QAR 10,000 to QAR 15,000.
