Role Overview
This position sits at the heart of the hotel’s overnight operations. The Night Auditor is expected to represent the property at reception, support guest wellbeing, coordinate with other departments, and help keep the hotel secure, organised, and running smoothly through the night.
New team members will receive training across front-of-house functions as well as property and personal safety procedures to help them succeed in the role.
Key Duties
- Greet guests and callers professionally, with speed, courtesy, and a personal touch.
- Handle guest queries, complaints, and requests in a prompt and effective manner.
- Keep guest history records current and ensure recurring guest details are correctly updated.
- Track diary items, special requests, and flagged guest preferences so they are actioned on time.
- Receive and pass on guest mail, messages, and parcels without delay.
- Work closely with housekeeping on room status updates and lost property matters.
- Use the daily worksheet correctly and keep shift information accurate and complete.
- Post charges carefully, prepare required paperwork, and maintain accurate cashiering balances at the end of shifts.
- Carry out all required audit tasks according to the night audit checklist.
- Process express check-out envelopes and handle payments with the correct documentation.
- Answer incoming calls as quickly as possible and distribute reports as required.
- Process wake-up calls and make sure handover information is passed clearly to the next shift.

- Maintain hotel security procedures, complete night security rounds, and help protect guests, colleagues, and property.

Talent and Team Support
- Help the department management team deliver ongoing on-the-job training aligned with brand and service standards.
- Support the induction of new employees during their first week, following the hotel’s onboarding guidance.
- Make sure team members perform their work in line with brand standards and department procedures.
- Communicate regularly with colleagues and ensure important updates are shared through briefings.
Health, Safety, Security and Environment
- Comply with workplace health, safety, and environment policies, including manual handling, hazardous chemicals, machinery use, working at heights, protective equipment, and general safe work practices.
- Report hazards, injuries, incidents, and equipment faults quickly and complete the required documentation.
- Take part in health and safety training and workplace consultation activities.
- Keep equipment in proper working order and use it only for its intended purpose.
- Follow fire, evacuation, and emergency procedures, and remain fully aware of the fire panels and related technical systems.
- Carry out regular patrols of guest areas, garages, technical spaces, and other hotel zones, reporting any safety, maintenance, or security concerns.
- Ensure the security of people and property throughout the overnight shift and apply the hotel’s night security procedures consistently.
- Maintain hygiene standards for food handling and presentation and respect the property’s environmental practices such as energy saving and waste sorting.
- Comply with liquor licensing requirements and any relevant rehabilitation support processes.
Food and Beverage Support
- Ensure orders are taken correctly and food is prepared safely.
- Help deliver food within the expected 30-minute timeframe.
- Leave the kitchen clean and orderly after service.
