Role summary

The Senior Data Cable Technician is a full-time, on-site position based in Limerick. The role focuses on the installation, termination, testing, and certification of structured data and fiber optic cabling in commercial and enterprise settings.

What you will do

• Install, terminate, test, and certify structured cabling and fiber optic infrastructure.
• Review network drawings and design documents to plan cable routes and installation work.
• Carry out work in line with company procedures, technical standards, and relevant regulations.
• Diagnose cabling faults, complete repairs, and handle maintenance or upgrade work.
• Prepare job documentation, test results, and related reports.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other technicians to keep projects moving on schedule.
• Support junior colleagues where needed and help coordinate vendor or client interactions on site.
• Maintain a safe, efficient, and professional working environment during all site activities.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with data cabling installation, fiber optic termination, splicing, and certification testing.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and work from structured cabling and network design plans.
• Practical knowledge of troubleshooting, repair work, maintenance tasks, and compliance with safety and industry rules.
• Awareness of related systems such as wireless access points, CCTV, VoIP, and basic network hardware.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, including professional interaction with clients and project teams.
• A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites.
• Several years of experience in data cabling or a closely related discipline.
• An electrical, telecommunications, or networking qualification is considered helpful.
• Vendor-specific cabling or fibre certifications are an advantage.
