Role Overview
The Assembler/Packer is responsible for assembling, packing, and inspecting firearm magazines. This role requires careful attention to quality, safe work practices, and the ability to complete assigned tasks efficiently while following company procedures and standards.
Key Duties
- Put together parts such as handles, blades, gears, and springs to build firearm magazines.
- Align components using guides like holes, edges, and prongs to ensure proper fit.
- Fasten parts with rivets, bolts, or screws using tools such as hammers, riveting machines, wrenches, or pneumatic screwdrivers.
- Check assembled pieces for quality, accuracy, and conformance to specifications.
- Test, fit, and calibrate parts and mechanisms to meet tolerance requirements.
- Identify parts or units that fail inspection or tolerance checks and carry out repairs when needed.
- Use a drill press to drill, ream, or tap holes in parts when required.
- Maintain a safe work environment in and around the assembly area.
- Use clamps, pneumatic presses, screw presses, and similar tools to hold components during assembly.
- Package completed parts for shipment when needed.
- Make sure records, counts, and other documentation are accurate and complete.
- Keep the assembly area and equipment clean, organized, and in good working order.
- Report defective parts or unusual conditions to the line lead or supervisor.
- Follow quality control requirements and procedures for handling nonconforming parts.
- Share shift-change information with other assemblers and line leads to prevent errors and keep work moving smoothly.
- Support lean initiatives in the assembly area, including 5S practices, cleanliness, and continuous improvement efforts based on Kaizen principles.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 0 to 3 years of manufacturing or small-parts assembly experience.
- Good fine motor dexterity to support quality and productivity.
- Basic troubleshooting and organizational ability.
- Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
- Clear written and spoken communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, stay adaptable, and think analytically.
- Comfort using micrometers, gauges, and other hand tools for measurement and inspection.
- Ability to read and follow instructions in production documents.
