Role overview
This role sits within the Shared Data Management Office and focuses on strengthening data quality across the organization. You will work with critical financial-services data to help ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency for risk management and regulatory reporting. The position supports business partners across Finance, Group Risk Management, Personal & Commercial Banking, Capital Markets, and Wealth Management.
What you'll do
- Dig into datasets to spot trends, anomalies, and recurring patterns.
- Develop controls that can identify and flag data quality concerns.
- Use Agile ways of working to help automate controls with a range of tools and technologies.
- Review business, financial, and reporting data using modern analytics tools.
- Partner with stakeholders to clarify business needs and turn them into user stories and business requirements.
What you need to bring
- At least 2 years of professional experience, including 2 years in analysis work within a data-intensive environment such as banking, insurance, capital markets, retail, or a similar sector.
- A background in Science, Engineering, Business, Finance, or another analytical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong ability to assess and resolve complex data-related issues using intermediate to advanced analytical methods.
- Hands-on SQL experience, or similar data analysis tools and packages, for querying data and carrying out different operations to uncover insights.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Careful attention to detail, plus the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred experience
- Familiarity with data quality principles and related processes.
- Working knowledge of banking and finance terminology and workflows.
- Understanding of data flows and how data is processed across systems.
- Exposure to IBM DataStage or Information Analyzer.
