Role overview
Visteon is seeking a Functional Safety professional to support the development of automotive cockpit electronics and safety-focused products. This position sits within a fast-evolving mobility environment where electric vehicles and autonomous safety technologies are reshaping the industry. The work spans system, software, and hardware aspects of safety across products such as instrument clusters, central displays, cockpit domain controllers, and battery management systems.
Candidates with experience in product development at the system, software, or hardware level in automotive, avionics, medical devices, or rail/train industries are encouraged to apply, especially those looking to deepen their expertise in automotive functional safety.
Key responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and improve the ISO 26262 safety process, reliability process, and related supporting workflows.
- Carry out functional safety audits and assessments across engineering and manufacturing functions.
- Perform independent confirmation reviews of safety-related deliverables and work products.
- Track and verify the proper implementation of defined safety measures within products.
- Prepare and communicate functional safety development progress and status for products.
- Ensure that products comply with functional safety requirements and standards.
- Conduct process-oriented and technical training sessions for teams.
- Research functional safety trends, evaluate architecture solutions, and share insights with product development teams.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics, Automation Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Hands-on experience in specifying, developing, or testing electronic products.
- Practical exposure to system design work.
- Understanding of software design and hardware fundamentals.
- Previous functional safety experience will be considered an advantage.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
- Comfort working in a multicultural team environment.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
