About ForceN

ForceN develops advanced force-torque sensing hardware designed to improve surgical accuracy and support the future of robotic sensing. The company builds highly reliable, high-precision systems using a proprietary digitally manufactured transducer film that can be applied around surgical or robotic components to create a digital sense of touch. Its technology helps robotics and AI teams solve complex manipulation and interaction challenges.

ForceN serves leading organizations in surgical, logistics, and frontier robotics. The company helps customers move from concept to deployment faster by offering a dependable, scalable solution with a strong development and implementation timeline.

About the Role

ForceN is hiring a practical Manufacturing Engineer to help develop, transfer, and scale high-precision sensing systems from prototype builds into repeatable production. This role suits someone who likes working closely with engineering, operations, suppliers, and contract manufacturers to convert innovative hardware into manufacturing processes that are robust and scalable.

The person in this role will build production workflows, improve manufacturability, create process documentation, support tooling and fixture development, resolve production issues, and drive ongoing improvements in cost, quality, yield, and throughput.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, roll out, and refine manufacturing processes for ForceN’s force-moment sensing systems and related electro-mechanical products.
  • Help move precision sensing products from prototype and pilot stages into higher-volume production.
  • Work with R&D, design engineering, and operations to identify and address DFM, process, quality, and manufacturability issues.
  • Develop and keep up to date manufacturing records such as work instructions, process maps, assembly steps, inspection criteria, and production logs.
  • Define, develop, and enhance tooling, fixtures, equipment, and other production supports to make manufacturing more repeatable and efficient.
  • Partner with contract manufacturers and suppliers to ensure processes can be transferred, scaled, and delivered to quality and schedule expectations.
  • Investigate issues on the manufacturing floor, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to avoid repeat problems.
  • Improve production methods to raise throughput, lower cost, lift yield, and strengthen product reliability.
  • Assist with machining, fabrication, assembly, and inspection work, including tolerance checks and coordination with machine shops or outside suppliers.
  • Support production-readiness efforts such as build planning, training, process validation, and the transition from engineering builds to production runs.
  • Prepare reports, status updates, and presentations for internal teams covering manufacturing progress, risks, and improvement projects.
  • Help maintain a safe, organized, and compliant production area, including training manufacturing staff on applicable processes and safety rules.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a similar technical discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in electro-mechanical, robotics, sensing, precision hardware, medical device, or advanced manufacturing settings.
  • Demonstrated experience building, improving, and scaling manufacturing processes from prototype to production.
  • Strong background working with contract manufacturers, suppliers, machine shops, and internal technical teams.
  • Practical understanding of manufacturing methods, assembly, machining, fabrication, tooling, fixturing, and production documentation.
  • Ability to convert product designs into efficient, repeatable, and scalable manufacturing workflows.
  • Familiarity with DFM, root cause analysis, corrective actions, quality controls, and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Experience in ISO 9001 and/or ISO 13485 environments is considered an advantage.
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methods is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of CAD tools, Jira, production planning tools, and basic quality assurance methods is an advantage.
  • Python and/or C++ experience is an advantage, especially for automation, test systems, production tools, or data analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and comfort managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving hardware environment.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, quality, suppliers, and production teams.

Why Join ForceN?

  • Work on advanced force sensing technology used in robotics, automation, surgical, logistics, and advanced manufacturing applications.
  • Take on a hands-on role with direct influence on manufacturability, scalability, quality, and customer outcomes.
  • Join a collaborative, innovative, fast-paced hardware startup environment.
  • Access professional development and growth opportunities.
  • Receive comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Be eligible for bonus and stock option compensation.
  • Enjoy company-sponsored culture events.
  • Work in a dog-friendly, open-concept office.

Equal Opportunity

ForceN is committed to providing equal opportunity in hiring. Applicants from all backgrounds and experiences are encouraged to apply. The company aims to maintain an inclusive workplace where everyone can contribute, grow, and succeed.
