Role overview

This position is for a plumber at SO/ Hotels & Resorts in Ras al-Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. The role focuses on keeping all plumbing-related systems across the property operating safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to guests and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out regular checks and upkeep of plumbing infrastructure, covering water supply, drainage, sewage, and gas systems throughout the property.
• Identify the cause of plumbing faults and complete repairs for issues such as leaks, clogs, damaged pipes, and malfunctioning fixtures.
• Fit, replace, and service plumbing fixtures including sinks, toilets, faucets, showers, and water heaters, making sure installations meet accepted industry standards.
• Track water pressure and flow, and make the necessary adjustments to keep the system working efficiently in all areas.
• Respond quickly to urgent plumbing incidents such as pipe bursts, flooding, and other critical failures, then restore service as fast as possible.
• Apply preventative maintenance practices, including flushing lines and drains, to reduce the likelihood of future breakdowns and extend system life.
• Ensure all plumbing work follows local codes, safety requirements, and internal company policies, while staying current with relevant standards and best practices.
• Coordinate with other maintenance colleagues and department leaders to keep systems in top condition and resolve maintenance concerns without delay.
• Keep clear and accurate records of installations, repairs, and preventive maintenance tasks completed.
• Deliver responsive service to guests and employees by addressing plumbing-related requests promptly and professionally.
• Use environmentally responsible methods, including water-saving practices, reduced waste, and eco-friendly plumbing materials where appropriate.

Qualifications and requirements

• A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification is required; plumbing certification or related training is considered an advantage.
• Previous experience working as a plumber is expected, especially in commercial or hospitality environments. Experience handling both residential and commercial systems is preferred.
• Strong understanding of plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair work is needed, along with confidence using tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems accurately and find practical solutions quickly while limiting disruption to operations.
• Physical capability to perform manual tasks such as lifting, bending, kneeling, and working in tight or confined areas.
• Careful attention to detail to ensure work meets high quality standards and remains compliant with safety regulations.
• Good knowledge of safe work practices, including proper handling of tools, chemicals, and materials.
• Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks and complete work within deadlines.
• Clear communication skills for interacting with guests, team members, and supervisors.
