Role overview
The PMO Manager will lead governance across large portfolios and transition programs that may involve several programs, multiple program managers, and one or more dedicated PMO teams. The role is responsible for setting DXC-aligned standards for each program, maintaining them throughout delivery, and making sure client expectations are also met. The position also involves organizing the work performed by PMO teams and putting in place the structures, standards, procedures, documentation, and reporting needed to support the portfolio, the customer, and DXC.
This role places strong emphasis on quality and compliance. The PMO Manager works closely with Program Executives to build a unified, coordinated portfolio team.
Key responsibilities
- Apply DXC’s project management delivery process across the full lifecycle, including defining scope, building schedules, planning resources, managing risks, controlling costs and budgets, handling change, and assuring quality.
- Track adherence to agreed standards and policies, and report on compliance for the program.
- Set up a steady program rhythm with regular stakeholder meetings and ensure all regulatory submissions are planned and completed on time, in line with the Communication Management Plan.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with senior stakeholders, both internally and externally.
- Oversee planning, requirements gathering, scheduling, work planning, communications, issue handling, cost control, financial reporting, and change control.
- Put processes in place to keep documentation, reports, plans, and project artifacts complete, accurate, and current, while following the Quality Management Plan where relevant.
- Gather, combine, and analyze project and program information to help drive sound decisions.
- Guide program and project managers on the best use of methodologies, management practices, and delivery approaches, and serve as the first contact for PMO-related questions.
- Ensure that quality assurance and risk management processes and policies are established and working effectively.
- Influence project managers to run their projects according to DXC’s standards and delivery processes.
- Lead PMO staff, typically including Project Control Analysts, Financial Project Control Analysts, and Schedulers, who may be based onshore or offshore.
- Make sure PMO outputs such as program status, financial updates, and schedule reporting are delivered on time.
Skills and experience
The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented without losing sight of the wider program picture. Success in this role requires the ability to perform well under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and communicate and influence effectively.
- At least 10 years of experience running PMOs for large, complex construction or ICT programs with multiple projects and project managers.
- Proven success in handling commercial governance frameworks and delivering agreed contracted outcomes.
- Strong commercial judgment, including the ability to manage scope shifts, contract changes, and delays.
- Deep working knowledge of PMBOK or equivalent project management methodologies.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, including the ability to present to executive-level audiences.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, leadership, and sound judgment capabilities.
- Executive-level presence with the ability to build trust, foster productive collaboration, and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to lead people through collaboration, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
- Comfort working through turbulence and change as it emerges.
- Strong financial understanding at a complex program level.
