Senior Python Engineer (Performance & Architecture) - PCORE Team

About the Role

We invite experienced Python developers to join our PCORE team at Snoonu, focusing on enhancing the architecture, reliability, and efficiency of critical production Python services. These services, initially crafted by domain-savvy Data Science teams, now require refined engineering practices to boost scalability, maintainability, observability, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize performance metrics of Python microservices deployed in production.
• Enhance CPU utilization, memory efficiency, latency, concurrency, and overall throughput.
• Assess current architectural setups and recommend impactful improvements.
• Implement engineering best practices covering project structure, testing, observability, CI/CD, reliability, security, and code quality.
• Work extensively with FastAPI-based services and asynchronous Python programming.
• Profile and troubleshoot production-level issues under operational loads.
• Boost system resiliency and fault tolerance in distributed environments.
• Collaborate with Data Science teams to transition ML workloads into reliable production operations.
• Establish technical standards and guide Python service development across the organization.
• Contribute to incident investigations and postmortems as necessary.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum five years of professional experience in Python development.
• Solid background with backend microservices in live production contexts.
• In-depth expertise with FastAPI, asyncio, concurrency handling, and multithreading versus multiprocessing paradigms.
• Knowledgeable in packaging tools including pip, uvloop, and C library integrations.
• Proficient in profiling tools, memory leak detection, network diagnostics, and async I/O at the OS level.
• Experienced with caching methods, container optimization, including layering and multi-stage builds.
• Familiar with Kubernetes or ECS, AWS infrastructure as code (IaC), and performance tuning for Redis, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
• Understand message brokers like RabbitMQ and Kafka, along with ML libraries such as Numpy and deep learning frameworks.
• Strong grasp of distributed system design and production observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, and OpenTelemetry.
• Knowledge of reliability engineering concepts including retries, circuit breakers, backpressure, health monitoring, and autoscaling.
• Experienced in setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent communication skills with mentoring capabilities and a history of working alongside ML/Data Science teams.

Additional Assets

• Experience enhancing inference services or high-volume data pipelines.
• Familiarity with gRPC and designing high-performance APIs.
• Skills in conducting load testing and benchmarking.
• Exposure to 24/7 high-throughput production environments.
• Contributions to open source projects are welcomed.
