Role Overview

WP Engine is looking for a commercially minded Finance Manager who can take ownership of FP&A, guide strategic decision-making, and partner closely with leadership teams across the business. The role focuses on global operational expenses and cost of goods sold for core SaaS functions, with an emphasis on scalable growth, efficient capital allocation, and strong business partnership.

Team Leadership and Development

You will lead a team of three Financial Analysts, providing coaching, mentorship, and direction while encouraging autonomy and analytical excellence. The role calls for a supportive leadership style that helps the team grow into stronger business partners, improves workflows through collaboration, and removes barriers to career progression.

Planning, Forecasting, and Analysis

In this position, you will own and forecast P&L-related expenses across major SaaS functions. That includes COGS areas such as cloud hosting, customer experience, and customer success, as well as OpEx areas such as sales, marketing, product, and engineering. You will also lead monthly, quarterly, and annual budget-versus-actual reviews, identify efficiency opportunities and risks, and work with revenue and data teams on key SaaS metrics like LTV:CAC, Magic Number, Net Revenue Retention, Rule of 40, and gross and net margins.

Strategic Business Partnership

The role requires close collaboration with leaders in Engineering, Product, Marketing, and Sales to build headcount and spend models. You will also assess the effectiveness of sales commissions, marketing investment, and customer support/success capacity planning to improve acquisition, retention, and overall go-to-market efficiency.

Qualifications

Applicants should be professionally qualified accountants with a recognized certification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CPA. A background of at least 5 years in corporate finance, FP&A, or investment banking is required, and experience in SaaS is considered an advantage. The role also needs 1 to 2 years of direct experience managing or mentoring junior analysts, along with a strong understanding of SaaS P&L structure and accounting treatment.

Technical and Communication Skills

Strong financial modeling ability is essential, including advanced use of Excel or Google Sheets to build dynamic driver-based models from the ground up. Experience with FP&A tools such as Anaplan, Planful, or Adaptive Insights, and ERP platforms such as NetSuite, is valuable. Familiarity with BI tools like Looker or Tableau is preferred. You should also be able to simplify complex financial ideas for non-finance leaders, challenge assumptions constructively, and support decisions with clear data-driven reasoning.

Compensation

The estimated base salary for this role is €76,000 to €104,500 per year. Final pay may vary depending on role scope, experience, skills, and interview assessment, and overtime pay may apply to some roles.
