About the role
As a Project Manager in Capital Delivery, you will help deliver infrastructure projects that support Auckland’s expansion, resilience, and long-term sustainability. Based in the Newmarket office and reporting to the Manager – Design Delivery, you will oversee design projects from initial concept through to the start of execution, including procurement. The role involves close coordination with internal teams and external partners to achieve safe, high-quality outcomes on time and within budget.
Key responsibilities
- Lead design projects from the planning stage through to completion.
- Control project scope, schedules, budgets, and quality to support successful delivery.
- Develop effective working relationships with stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
- Assist with procurement activities, including preparing tenders and evaluating submissions.
- Promote strong health, safety, and environmental performance across all project work.
- Track progress and prepare clear updates on milestones, risks, and costs.
- Manage risks, issues, and changes early so delivery stays on course.
- Support the handover of completed assets to operations.
About you
You are an organised and driven project professional who enjoys delivering practical outcomes while working across varied teams. You bring a proactive mindset and are comfortable balancing competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
Requirements
- A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, construction, planning, environmental studies, or a similar field.
- At least 3–5 years of project management experience in infrastructure, construction, or a related area.
- Strong organisational ability and confidence managing multiple priorities.
- Good commercial judgement, including experience with budgets and contract management.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build productive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- A practical, solutions-led approach to solving problems.
- Adaptability, resilience, and a commitment to high-quality delivery.
- Formal project management certification such as PMP or PRINCE2, or experience in the water sector, would be an advantage.
