Role overview
Tate Europe is looking for an experienced Pre-Construction Project Planner based in Dublin, Ireland. This is a permanent full-time position reporting to the Pre-Construction Manager. The role focuses on planning and coordinating construction projects from tender stage through project start and onward, using established scheduling tools and a detail-led approach.

What the role involves
You will be responsible for creating, reviewing, and managing detailed project programmes that support successful delivery of construction work. The position requires strong planning skills, the ability to assess drawings and technical documents, and confidence working with stakeholders across design, commercial, production, logistics, and project delivery teams. A major part of the role is ensuring that programmes are realistic, risks are identified early, and plans align with both client expectations and business goals.
Pre-construction planning
- Build detailed tender and pre-construction schedules using Asta PowerProject.
- Study drawings, specifications, and scope information to create logical project sequences.
- Work with design, procurement, production, logistics, and project teams to shape programme inputs.
- Manage technical and commercial bid documents throughout the tender stage.
- Support project managers during project execution.
- Partner with estimators, quantity surveyors, and the pre-construction design team during bid work.
Programme development and control
- Prepare baseline schedules with critical path analysis and key milestone tracking.
- Spot risks, limitations, and potential opportunities within the project plan.
- Perform sensitivity checks and scenario-based programme analysis.
- Review supplier and subcontractor schedules to ensure they are aligned with the main programme.
Stakeholder collaboration
- Take part in tender meetings, internal reviews, and client-facing presentations.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to keep programmes accurate and up to date.
- Continue supporting project managers once delivery begins.
Reporting and documentation
- Produce programme reports and visual planning materials such as Gantt charts and phasing diagrams.
- Make sure planning documents meet client and contract obligations.
- Keep programme records clear, organised, and fully traceable.
- Maintain control of technical and commercial bid documentation during the tender process.
Continuous improvement
- Help improve planning standards, templates, and working practices.
- Stay current with new planning methods and software developments.
Requirements
- A third-level degree is preferred.
- Previous experience in a planning role within construction or civil engineering.
- Strong background in pre-construction and tender-stage planning.
- Hands-on experience with Asta PowerProject is essential.
- Experience with other planning tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project is an advantage.
- Solid understanding of construction methods and sequencing.
- Strong capability in programme development, critical path analysis, and delay analysis.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Good working knowledge of Excel and reporting tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
- Comfortable working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- High level of attention to detail, organisation, and time management.
- Strategic mindset, commercial awareness, teamwork, and risk management ability.
