About the Internship
Metnmat Research is hiring a mechanical engineering intern to contribute to refrigeration and cold storage innovation. The role is centered on hands-on design, fabrication, and prototype development for systems such as cold storage units and portable cooling boxes. The internship is set in an entrepreneurial, innovation-focused environment where the intern will help turn concepts into working refrigeration-based prototypes.
What You Will Work On
- Assist with the mechanical design of cold storage systems and portable refrigeration solutions.
- Help choose and integrate key components such as the compressor, evaporator, condenser, insulation, and associated parts.
- Support the design of portable cooling boxes, housings, ducts, fixtures, and mounting setups.
- Create 3D CAD models, fabrication drawings, and simple bills of materials.
- Work alongside fabrication and assembly teams during prototype build and development.
- Contribute to testing, fault diagnosis, and iterative design improvements for refrigeration prototypes.
- Support material selection, insulation implementation, and mechanical packaging of the overall system.

Required Background
- Qualification in BTech, Diploma, Polytechnic, or BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Thermal Engineering, Production, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
- Working knowledge of cold storage and refrigeration system design.
- Understanding of compressors, evaporators, condensers, cooling coils, insulation, and airflow arrangements.
- Ability to handle mechanical design for portable boxes, fabricated structures, and integrated systems.
- Basic familiarity with fabrication methods such as sheet metal work, welding, machining, and assembly.
- 3D CAD modeling knowledge is preferred.
- A practical, hands-on mindset with willingness to participate in prototype development.
