The role is based around active productions in and near San Diego, including Temecula, and requires dependable high-speed internet access.
Key Duties
The selected candidate will work on set as a DIT/Media Manager, manage incoming footage, and help keep post workflows organized from ingest through delivery.
- Support active shoots as the on-set DIT and media manager.
- Ingest, transcode, organize, and archive video footage.
- Maintain accurate records for footage, media ingestion, and edit preparation.
- Prepare projects by syncing multicam material, building string-outs and assembly edits, and placing markers.
- Assist post-production coordinators with asset tracking and production materials.
- Help maintain communication between production and post-production teams.
- Offer input on workflow improvements and best practices.
- Work alongside Production Technologies to troubleshoot technical problems.
- Be available for flexible hours based on production requirements.
Required Background
The role calls for at least 3 years of professional assistant editing experience in digital content. Candidates should be highly comfortable with macOS, Google Suite, DaVinci Resolve, and Adobe Creative Cloud tools, with Premiere Pro preferred as the main editing platform. Familiarity with Photoshop, Illustrator, Media Encoder, and After Effects is also expected. Applicants should understand common video codecs, file formats, and timecode systems, and be able to contribute comfortably in a small team setting while working independently and managing shifting deadlines.
Additional Qualifications
- Working knowledge of post-production and production equipment and processes.
- Familiarity with social media and digital video platforms is beneficial.
- Experience handling camera work, lighting, and sound design is a plus.
- Exposure to proxy-based workflows, remote workflows, SANs, and MAMs is an advantage.
- Experience integrating graphics and visual effects is also a plus.
Compensation and Terms
This role is paid at a day rate of $250.00. The position is non-union. Compensation may be adjusted based on the final candidate’s experience, skill set, certifications, and location. Work will take place on location with active productions in and around San Diego, including Temecula.
