Role overview
This opportunity is with a New York City–based real estate services firm that provides property, asset, and construction management support across multifamily assets. The organization is recognized for its practical management style, strong use of data, and focus on portfolio results, working with both institutional investors and family office owners in the NYC market.
The company is looking for an Assistant Property Manager to help oversee the day-to-day running of a multifamily portfolio in New York City. Reporting to the Senior Property Manager, this person will work closely with ownership and operating partners to support efficient building operations, resident satisfaction, and compliance with local regulations.
The preferred candidate will bring solid NYC multifamily property management experience, including tenant relations, building operations, compliance tracking, vendor management, lease renewals, and financial support.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily operation of assigned multifamily properties while maintaining strong tenant service and smooth building performance.
- Handle tenant communications, relationship management, and issue resolution.
- Coordinate building personnel, including maintenance, leasing, and administrative teams.
- Track preventative maintenance work, capital projects, and vendor performance.
- Monitor compliance items such as DOB, ECB, FDNY, and HPD violations.
- Make sure compliance documents and follow-up actions are filed on time.
- Carry out move-in, move-out, and routine property inspections.
- Organize and oversee completion of work orders and tenant access requests.
- Support lease renewals, vacancy leasing activities, and resident retention efforts.
- Draft tenant notices and help manage resident communications.
- Process vendor invoices, accounts payable items, and service contract administration.
- Assist with budgets, expense tracking, and P&L review to support property performance.
- Keep records and reporting accurate within property management systems.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of multifamily property management experience in New York City; experience across multiple sites is preferred.
- Working knowledge of NYC property operations, compliance rules, and local housing regulations.
- Ability to manage several priorities in a demanding, fast-paced setting.
- Strong organization and careful attention to detail.
- Good communication, customer service, and follow-through skills.
- Self-driven mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word, plus Yardi.
- NY Real Estate Salesperson License is an advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Compensation and benefits
The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
