Role overview
KPMG’s Strategy & Value Creation practice partners with clients to uncover, measure, and deliver initiatives that unlock untapped EBITDA potential. The team supports clients across the full deal lifecycle, from early growth strategy through to post-transaction transformation, with a focus on improving earnings quality and increasing enterprise value.
What the team does
- Builds growth strategies for both organic expansion and acquisition-led growth.
- Identifies and tests value-creation opportunities before and after a transaction.
- Conducts commercial due diligence by reviewing markets, growth drivers, customer behaviour, competitor dynamics, deal risks, and upside potential.
- Performs operational due diligence, including assessment of management plans, efficiency opportunities, supply chain exposure, AI-related disruption, and operating model value levers.
- Designs post-deal transformation programmes to help clients realise acquisition value.
- Evaluates synergies by estimating potential cost savings and revenue uplift.
Your opportunity as Associate Director
This role is for a senior professional who can shape and deliver client outcomes across strategy, deals, and transformation. You will help drive the future of the team by leading complex work, managing senior relationships, and contributing to business growth.
- Lead cross-functional teams to identify value, quantify opportunities, and build transformation and implementation roadmaps.
- Own senior client relationships and serve as the main point of contact while protecting delivery quality and commercial results.
- Support business growth through proposals, thought leadership, and opportunity conversion.
- Track industry developments and assess how short- and long-term shifts may affect client value propositions.
- Prepare and present persuasive leadership messages with clarity and confidence.
- Work collaboratively across teams and regions to create a smooth client experience in a global setting.
- Coach and develop team members to encourage continuous learning and strong performance.
- Travel within Australia and internationally when needed for client meetings, industry events, and business development.

Experience and background
- Background in external consulting within a client-facing strategy role at a major strategy firm, boutique strategy firm, private equity firm, or Big 4 consultancy, and/or experience in a strategic cross-functional corporate role.
- Hands-on exposure to value creation, corporate development, market sizing, business due diligence, operational improvement, performance improvement, and related strategy work.
- Strong sector expertise in at least one industry, with a solid understanding of market trends and the effect of emerging technologies such as generative AI on business models.
- Advanced commercial judgement and analytical capability to turn complex data into clear recommendations for senior executives.
- Demonstrated success in originating and deepening high-value client relationships, developing sophisticated proposals, and closing commercial opportunities.
- Strong storytelling ability with a talent for building compelling narratives that show client impact.
- Comfort working across diverse teams and geographies with cultural awareness and flexibility.
- Professional-level English communication skills.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. An MBA or professional certifications are preferred.
