About the Team
You would be joining a compact, tightly coordinated team tackling a major challenge: business fraud that costs the financial system billions each year. The company is replacing slow, expensive, outdated tools with a faster and more effective approach. Team members take real ownership, see customer impact quickly, and work on problems that matter from day one. Communication is direct, quality matters deeply, and the culture values deliberate execution. This is a chance to help reshape how trust is built across major financial institutions.
About the Role
Baselayer is scaling quickly and is building the outreach engine that powers growth. As a Business Development Representative, you will be the first point of contact for prospective customers and a key driver of pipeline creation. Your work will include researching and prospecting banks, credit unions, fintech companies, and platform businesses; running outbound outreach through email, phone, and social channels; and setting qualified meetings for Account Executives. The role is high ownership and fast paced, with a clear path toward becoming an Account Executive for strong performers. The team is looking for someone driven, coachable, and persistent who wants to build strong sales fundamentals at a company creating a new category.
What You'll Do
- Identify and research target accounts across banks, credit unions, fintechs, and platform businesses.
- Execute high-quality outbound outreach through email, phone, and LinkedIn to create new opportunities.
- Schedule qualified meetings and pass along thoroughly researched prospects to Account Executives.
- Customize outreach by understanding each prospect’s business, pain points, and likely use case.
- Meet and surpass activity and pipeline targets, treating performance metrics as your key scoreboard.
- Work with Account Executives and marketing to improve messaging, outreach sequences, and targeting.
- Maintain accurate, organized CRM records and use performance data to refine what works.
- Develop a deep understanding of the product, market, and buyer to build a long-term sales career.
Minimum Requirements
- 1 to 3 years of professional experience, with a demonstrated record of success in work, academics, athletics, or another competitive setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Self-driven, resilient, and willing to work hard without needing constant direction.
- Well organized and able to manage a large volume of outreach activity.
- Coachable and eager to learn proven sales fundamentals.
- Comfortable in a fast-moving environment with high expectations.
What Sets You Apart
- Previous experience in SDR, BDR, sales, or another customer-facing role, preferably in SaaS or fintech.
- Hands-on use of outbound and prospecting tools such as Outreach, Salesloft, Apollo, Amplemarket, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, or Nooks, plus CRM experience with HubSpot.
- Strong interest in fintech, payments, or risk.
- Competitive mindset and a history of consistently beating targets.
- Long-term ambition to grow into an Account Executive role.
- Highly proactive, motivated, and goal-oriented.

- Employer-paid health, dental, and vision premiums with no payroll deductions for those benefits.
- 401(k) plan with company matching contributions.
- HSA contributions on eligible plans.
- Monthly gym stipend of $250.
- A transparent culture that values candid communication and gives every team member a voice.
