This position is for a claims handler within the Legal department in Leeds. The role involves overseeing a portfolio of public liability and employers’ liability matters, along with product liability and property damage claims, with a reserve value of up to £30,000. You will handle claims from the point of opening through to pre-litigation settlement.

What you’ll do

  • Take ownership of a varied caseload covering public liability, employers’ liability, product liability and property damage claims.
  • Keep case records accurate and up to date within the relevant claims management system.
  • Work in line with client service-level agreements and agreed standards.
  • Maintain high levels of service quality and productivity.
  • Assign incoming claims and establish appropriate handling strategies.
  • Carry out supervisory duties that match the level of the role.
  • Support the coaching and development of colleagues through training and mentoring.
  • Complete additional duties allocated by the Team Leader.
  • Attend client review meetings and contribute to client project activity where required.
  • Develop strong, professional working relationships with clients.

  • Experience managing claim values or quantum up to £25,000.
