Role overview
As a Data Annotator, you will support the handling, organization, and review of diverse datasets. You will also contribute to creating training materials and guides, perform annotation tasks, and help coordinate with external labeling vendors.
Responsibilities
- Examine and evaluate labeled surgical data for quality and consistency.
- Develop, update, and refine annotation tutorials and process documentation.
- Support training for external labelers and contracted labeling teams.
- Share information clearly and efficiently with outsourced labeling partners.
- Prepare data for labeling and choose suitable items for annotation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Academic exposure to computer science or biology is preferred.
- Comfortable using computers and general digital tools.
- Working knowledge of Linux and/or Windows operating systems.
- Strong command of English, including grammar.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical ability.
- Good problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills for working with software engineers, hardware engineers, clinicians, and project managers.
- Ability to recognize patterns in complex data and present findings in a structured way.
Compensation and benefits
The base salary for this position is $60,000 to $80,000 per year. In addition, the role includes a performance-based annual bonus, stock options, a comprehensive benefits package, and a generous PTO policy.
Additional information
This is a full-time, onsite position based in Los Angeles, California.
The role is part of a high-tech startup working to advance surgical robotics in ophthalmology.
