About the team and role
Swiggy’s data science and applied machine learning work is central to how decisions are made and products are built. In this role, you will collaborate with teams across the business to design and deliver complete data products, starting from framing a business problem in ML or mathematical terms, through experimentation and model development, all the way to production deployment. The work has direct impact on customer experience and business outcomes, and the team values sharing knowledge through internal and external forums.
What you will do
- Build new ML-based solutions and next-generation systems using machine learning, deep learning, and statistics to improve ad recommendation quality and campaign performance.
- Analyze Swiggy’s large historical datasets to uncover opportunities and solutions for business and customer experience challenges.
- Partner with engineers, product managers, and analysts on requirements, solution design, and end-to-end implementation of inference systems at scale.
- Keep up with current research in ad bidding algorithms and recommendation systems, and adapt relevant ideas to Swiggy’s use cases.
- Share your work through internal and external presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Contribute to high-impact and challenging work in the logistics domain.
- Work closely with software developers and product managers to embed data-driven solutions into core systems.
- Develop, train, and deploy machine learning and deep learning models.
- Own projects end to end, from initial idea to final delivery, with strong attention to quality and impact.
What we are looking for
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a quantitative discipline, along with 1 to 3 years of experience in industry or research labs.
- Strong analytical and first-principles problem-solving ability.
- Hands-on experience applying machine learning, deep learning, and statistical methods to business problems.
- Preference for candidates who have worked with large-scale data and deployed ML or DL models into production.
- Strong command of Python, SQL, Spark, and TensorFlow.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Useful domain exposure in ecommerce and logistics.
- Experience with generative AI.
- A demonstrated record of building and shipping ML/DL-powered data products.
- Exposure to agentic AI, LLMs, and NLP.
- Solid proficiency in Python.
