Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Monitor active projects and support the design office in resolving technical issues as they arise.
• Contribute to air-conditioning-related jobs, projects, and contracts.

• Serve as a management representative for both site and office-based projects.

• Handle planning, design drafting, cost estimation, and related project work.
• Prepare consultancy proposals and support tender submissions.
• Oversee authority submissions and project updates.
• Step in to cover duties for other senior/design engineers when required.

Detailed job scope

• Lead C&S design and checking for QP Design and AC projects at head office, covering building and infrastructure works.
• Support the Technical Director in managing the full design workflow, from requirements and structural scheming to calculations, drawings, authority submissions, and site inspections through to construction completion.
• Resolve technical issues encountered during project execution.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, and contractors on design requirements and technical matters.
• Attend design coordination and construction progress meetings during both design and construction stages, and report issues while supporting solutions.
• Assist periodic inspection teams in identifying building defects and proposing rectification measures.
• Support QP supervision teams by reviewing contractor designs and submissions.
• Provide technical input for tendering, including design concepts and specifications used for cost estimation and tender preparation.
• Help maintain the company’s professional reputation and client goodwill while supporting contractual delivery.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.

Candidate profile

The company is looking for a civil/structural engineer with a degree recognised by the Professional Engineers Board of Singapore. For the Senior Design Engineer track, candidates should have 5 to 10 years of relevant civil and structural design consultancy experience on building and infrastructure projects. For the Design Engineer track, candidates should have 6 to 8 years of relevant civil and structural project experience. Familiarity with Eurocodes or local codes, authority submission procedures, and engineering problem-solving is important. Experience in geotechnical design is an advantage. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required, along with the ability to manage projects effectively.

Tools and software

Additional criteria for Senior Design Engineer

• Must hold a civil or structural engineering degree recognised by the Professional Engineers Board of Singapore.
• Should have 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in civil and structural design consultancy for building and infrastructure projects.
• Should be familiar with Eurocodes or local codes and authority submission procedures.
• Geotechnical design experience will be considered an advantage.
• Must have strong knowledge of design software such as Staad Pro, Tekla Structural Designer, and Plaxis.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and strong written and spoken communication abilities are expected.
