Descrizione del lavoro

About the role

Monsoon Accessorize started with a simple idea: bringing vivid, handcrafted artisan clothing inspired by distant places to London. The brand’s roots trace back to a hippy commune in Ibiza in 1970 and an overland journey through Afghanistan and India before it found its home in West London. Today, the business continues to create expressive products while encouraging discovery and creativity.

As the Designer for the smart department, you will take ownership of developing and shaping original seasonal ranges that reflect the Monsoon Accessorize handwriting and support business goals. You will help steer the department’s design direction, ensuring collections are commercially relevant and aligned with the overall brand strategy.

Creative and design

  • Track trends and source inspiration for each season and drop, with a focus on prints, embroidery, colour direction, and key fashion influences relevant to the brand.
  • Build and maintain reference material for the team throughout the season, drawing on catwalk trends, social trends, competitor insights, mood boards, and colour palettes.
  • Carry trends and priority items through to the final approval stage.
  • Develop distinctive in-house ranges that balance freshness with commercial appeal.
  • Prepare design specifications and embroidery layouts, and produce attractive first samples.
  • Take full responsibility for the smart category and deliver well-balanced collections for the department.
  • Work confidently across woven and jersey smartwear and keep the business focus in mind.
  • Be prepared for international travel if required.

Critical path management

  • Plan design timelines for the smart category and keep work moving to schedule.
  • Support critical path planning for other product areas where needed, maintaining clear communication with suppliers and the wider team.
  • Consistently meet deadlines and stay on top of the critical path.

People and talent management

  • Encourage and inspire the print team to contribute to the development of the smart department.

Health and safety

  • Maintain a safe working environment by following health and safety standards and addressing any issues promptly.

What you need to succeed

You should already be an established designer with both creative vision and technical ability to build smart end-use collections. You will need to work independently, communicate clearly, and build productive relationships across teams. The role calls for someone who can work well under pressure, deliver within tight deadlines, and bring a strong eye for smart woven product, including soft and structured styles, embroidery, and embellishment details.

You should also be able to translate ideas into smart jersey pieces alongside the main collection, source fabrics effectively, and use technical skills to create refined products and first samples. Confidence in presenting concepts, pitching ideas, influencing others, and demonstrating a clear understanding of the brand handwriting is important. Strong CAD capability in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, along with fast and accurate hand sketching and attention to detail, is also expected.
