Role overview
Downer’s Networks Services team is seeking a permanent, full-time Designer/Estimator to join the Tauriko office in Tauranga, Bay of Plenty. The role supports the planning and delivery of design and estimating work for electricity distribution network projects across New Zealand.
In this position, you will handle engineering design, cost estimation, and customer support for both overhead and underground distribution work. You will work with internal stakeholders, clients, and contractors to produce accurate drawings, quotations, and project records while helping ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Key duties
- Provide design and estimating support for electricity distribution network projects
- Prepare quotations, costings, and as-built records
- Help coordinate resources and assist with project planning and delivery
- Develop and sustain effective relationships with clients and other stakeholders
- Contribute to ongoing improvement and support mentoring within the design team
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant will bring experience in design and estimation within power distribution networks. Familiarity with Neara for overhead line design would be an advantage, along with practical exposure to overhead and underground design or construction work.
You should also have working knowledge of electricity distribution equipment and materials, a solid understanding of engineering design standards, strong computer skills, experience using estimation tools, and good written and verbal communication. Strong organisation and time management are also important for success in this role.
