About the Role
Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Duty Engineer to join their team in Doha, Qatar. This full-time, onsite position involves installing, maintaining, and performing preventative maintenance on various tools, appliances, and equipment. The role requires ensuring all controls, gauges, and meters are calibrated, and identifying and operating shut-off valves. You will also be responsible for managing inventory, ordering parts, and maintaining purchase order logs. A key part of the job includes inspecting tools and equipment, operating power lifts, and completing essential life safety checks such as fire-pump and generator run tests. You will also inspect fire sprinkler systems and alarm systems, and contribute to the development of disaster response protocols. Responding to and resolving guest repair requests is a primary duty.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and perform preventative maintenance on tools, appliances, and equipment.
- Calibrate all controls, gauges, and meters.
- Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves.
- Manage inventory and maintain a log of purchase orders.
- Inspect tools, equipment, and machines.
- Operate power lifts and complete life safety checklists, including fire-pump and generator tests.
- Inspect fire sprinkler valves and alarm systems.
- Assist in developing disaster response protocols.
- Respond to and address guest repair requests promptly.
- Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluation, counseling, discipline, motivation, and coaching of staff.
- Adhere to all company policies regarding safety and security, and report any maintenance issues, hazards, accidents, or injuries.
- Complete required safety training and certifications.
- Maintain a professional appearance and ensure confidentiality of proprietary information.
- Provide excellent guest service by acknowledging and anticipating needs, and assisting guests with disabilities.
- Foster positive working relationships with colleagues and support team goals.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and identify opportunities for improving efficiency, productivity, safety, and cost-savings.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with others.
- Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines.
- Perform physical tasks including reaching, bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, and manipulating objects of varying size and weight.
- Move, lift, carry, push, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods and navigate stairs and service ramps.
- Perform other reasonable duties as requested by supervisors.
