Role overview
As an Electrical Engineer, you will help deliver electrical building services packages from early design checks through to construction, commissioning, and final handover. You’ll work alongside senior engineers, project managers, design teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to make sure the electrical scope is coordinated, compliant, practical to build, and delivered to a high standard.
This position is a strong fit for someone who enjoys technical problem-solving, stays organised, wants to keep learning, and is comfortable contributing within a fast-moving project delivery environment.
Key responsibilities
- Examine drawings, specifications, and schedules to confirm they meet project requirements, standards, and relevant industry guidance.
- Help assess coordinated construction drawings and related technical documents.
- Support responses to RFIs, technical questions, and design clarification requests.
- Review specialist supplier submissions against the project specification and applicable standards.
- Prepare, monitor, and manage technical submittals for client approval.
- Assist the procurement function with package and delivery schedules.
- Use engineering tools such as Dialux, Relux, Amtech ProDesign, Navisworks, AutoCAD, or similar software as needed.
- Support BCAR inspection activities and work with the quality team where required.
- Contribute to LEED and BREEAM-related technical submissions when relevant.
- Help prepare operation and maintenance manuals and handover files.
- Attend client demonstrations, inspections, and commissioning sessions.
- Provide technical support to the wider project team throughout construction, commissioning, and handover.
Requirements
- Level 7 degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Services Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a closely related subject.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in electrical engineering, electrical project engineering, building services, or a similar role.
- Solid understanding of electrical systems from design, construction, or installation viewpoints.
- Working knowledge of systems such as power distribution, lighting, containment, fire alarms, emergency lighting, and general building services.
- Ability to assist project teams with technical queries, design coordination, site issues, submittals, inspections, and handover documentation.
- Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving ability.
- Comfortable working collaboratively with senior engineers, project managers, design teams, site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Experience with Dialux, Relux, Amtech, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Irish electrical standards, fire alarm standards, emergency lighting standards, BCAR, LEED, BREEAM, or M&E contracting is beneficial but not essential.
