Role overview
Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking a Facilities Technician to help keep the site’s buildings, equipment, and support systems running safely, efficiently, and in line with compliance requirements. This position combines hands-on maintenance with coordination of scheduled contractor work and day-to-day facility support.

Key duties
- Carry out regular checks of building systems and complete repairs where needed, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, doors, and fixtures.
- Act quickly when maintenance issues, breakdowns, or urgent situations arise.
- Diagnose faults in equipment and building systems and apply the right corrective fix.
- Handle basic carpentry, painting, and small-scale construction work as required.
- Keep an eye on site conditions to support safety, cleanliness, and efficient operations.
- Record maintenance activity, work orders, and stock levels for tools and spare parts.
- Work with outside contractors and vendors, making sure work is completed properly and meets standards.
- Follow health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures at all times.
- Assist with office or facility relocations, space arrangements, and equipment setups.
- Be available for on-call or shift-based coverage when the role requires it.
- Lead site health and safety practices, including HSA-related and internal audits, while ensuring inspection and compliance standards are met.
Requirements
- 2 to 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance or a similar technical position.
- Practical understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems.
- Ability to interpret manuals, schematics, and simple technical drawings.
- Comfort using hand tools and power tools.
- Valid driver’s licence and forklift licence.
- Strong troubleshooting ability and a solutions-focused mindset.
- Basic computer skills for work orders, reporting, and related systems.
- Ability to organise priorities and work independently.
- Good communication skills.
- Careful attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety.
- Trade certification is preferred.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulatory requirements is preferred.
