Role overview
The Fleet Manager will oversee transport operations for the department, including core SAP-related work as a trained user for TMS, MM, and SD. This role is responsible for keeping vehicles, records, and support processes running smoothly so fleet operations can meet business needs.
Key responsibilities
- Work with FOS on all fleet management matters and transport coordination issues.
- Keep digital records updated for vehicle sales, registrations, inspections, and maintenance activities.
- Plan and forecast vehicle availability so requests can be met in line with changing user needs.
- Organize vehicles and operational staff to support scheduled work and special events.
- Make sure all fleet operations comply with local and state regulations.
- Drive corrective measures and capacity-building efforts to improve overall fleet performance and support company goals.
- Ensure vehicle and driver logbooks are completed properly for inclusion in the required records and documentation.
- Manage vehicle licensing, renewals, and other statutory registration requirements.
- Review and approve periodic fuel requests according to authorized provisions.
- Arrange regular servicing and repairs as needed, while keeping the relevant records in order.
- Carry out periodic vehicle inspections, report incidents, and share recommendations with the Head of Department.
- Coordinate with approved mechanic workshops to ensure timely and complete repair and servicing of DCL trucks.
- Prepare and submit monthly fleet reports.
- Handle any other related duties assigned by the Senior Manager or Head of Transport.
Requirements
- A first degree, or an equivalent qualification, in Transport and Logistics.
- Professional certification in Transport and Logistics.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in a general transport-related role.
- Comfortable using basic computer applications.
- Able to apply scheduling methods effectively in day-to-day work.
- Working knowledge of manual and computerized record management systems.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution ability.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Results-driven with a strong focus on performance.
