Where you'll work
Descrizione del lavoro
Role overview
Westfalia Fruit is a global, vertically integrated fresh produce business with a strong focus on avocados and other value-added fresh products. The company manages the full chain from growing and sourcing to ripening, packing, processing, and marketing, serving markets around the world throughout the year.
The Munich team is looking for an Inventory Planner for a fixed-term assignment of 12 months. The role focuses on controlling and improving stock levels in the German market to ensure product availability while reducing excess inventory, write-offs, and obsolescence exposure. You will work closely with Supply Planning, Logistics, Purchasing, and Sales to improve inventory performance, maintain high stock accuracy, and support service-level, working-capital, and profitability objectives.
What you will do
- Monitor, review, and fine-tune inventory across all locations to keep product availability high while limiting surplus stock and write-downs.
- Set, roll out, and regularly update inventory targets, safety stock, and reorder levels based on demand trends, lead times, and market needs.
- Assess stock ageing and slow-moving items, then define actions that reduce risk and improve working capital.
- Protect inventory accuracy through regular reconciliations, cycle counts, and close coordination with warehouse and logistics teams.
- Maintain master data and stock-related parameters within the ERP systems in use.
- Work closely with Purchasing to align sourcing strategies and secure the best possible economic outcome for orders.
- Support the buying team in determining ideal order quantities and timing in line with inventory targets.
- Coordinate with logistics teams to continuously improve storage, replenishment, and inbound/outbound material flows.
- Prepare, analyse, and track key inventory metrics such as stock turnover, stock ageing, write-offs, product availability, and service level, and turn findings into recommendations for management.
- Spot and implement improvements in inventory management and contribute to transformation and optimisation initiatives that advance end-to-end planning processes.
What the company is looking for
The ideal candidate brings solid knowledge of the fresh produce sector and is comfortable working in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities and competing demands. Strong analytical thinking, a practical problem-solving mindset, and a good grasp of inventory management processes are essential. This role suits someone who can contribute effectively in a collaborative supply-chain setting and deliver visible impact.
Requirements
- Proven experience in the fresh goods sector and the ability to succeed in a dynamic workplace with changing priorities and competing demands.
- Demonstrated background as an Inventory Planner, Supply Planner, or in a similar supply-chain role.
- Strong analytical ability, including experience with data analysis and reporting.
- Hands-on experience in inventory management and working with ERP systems.
- Fluency in both German and English, spoken and written, is mandatory.
- Excellent communication skills and experience managing stakeholders.

Benefits
- 30 days of annual leave.
- In-house English classes.
- Opportunities for career growth within the organisation.
- Membership at the Body & Soul fitness centre for a small fee.
- Free parking.
- Fresh fruit and coffee specialities.
