Role Overview

Vertex Computer Systems is looking for a seasoned IT Project Manager to steer major application development, modernization, and enterprise integration programs. This role is based in Hyderabad/Chennai and follows a hybrid working model. The position calls for strong experience in project delivery, financial tracking, vendor coordination, and communication with business and technical leadership.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the full delivery lifecycle for application development, modernization, and enterprise integration initiatives.
  • Oversee every stage of the project lifecycle, including planning, execution, and closure under PMLC and SDLC.
  • Create and keep current key project documents such as charters, schedules, plans, budgets, risk logs, communication plans, and progress updates.
  • Run delivery using Waterfall and Hybrid approaches as appropriate for the program.
  • Bring together business teams, architects, developers, QA, infrastructure, and external partners to keep work moving smoothly.
  • Track budget health, manage forecasts, control costs, and prepare financial status and variance reviews.
  • Hold vendors accountable and monitor their commitments, timelines, and outputs.
  • Spot risks, interdependencies, and roadblocks early, then define mitigation actions and escalate issues when required.
  • Convert technical details into clear updates for executive stakeholders.
  • Make sure business goals, technical solutions, scope, timeline, and budget remain aligned throughout delivery.

Required Background

  • At least 5 years of project management experience delivering enterprise IT programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, end-to-end application development and systems integration efforts.
  • Strong working knowledge of Waterfall and Hybrid project delivery methods.
  • Solid understanding of PMLC, SDLC, project governance, risk management, and change management.
  • Familiarity with insurance processes such as policy administration, claims handling, and underwriting.
  • Hands-on experience with budgets, forecasting, financial reporting, and cost control.
  • Experience managing vendors and other third-party contributors.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and executive-level communication abilities.
  • Comfort with project charters, risk plans, budget tracking, forecasting reports, schedules, and governance documentation.
  • Capability to handle multiple workstreams and complex dependencies at the same time.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in Commercial Property & Casualty insurance or the financial services sector.
  • PMP or an equivalent project management certification is preferred, though not mandatory.
