About the Job

Google's leadership team identifies complex business challenges, and the BizOps team collaborates in small groups to devise solutions. In this role, you will be fully engaged in data collection, derive insights from analysis, and then synthesize these into compelling recommendations. Beyond strategy, you will persuasively present your recommendations to senior executives, actively assist in implementation, and monitor the impact of your suggestions.

As a Data Scientist within the Marketing team, you will spearhead crucial measurement and analytics initiatives designed to deliver scaled impact for Google Marketing across various media campaigns. Your responsibilities will include contributing to the implementation of data science solutions, enhancing data pipelines, conducting geo-experiments or Marketing Mix Models (MMM), and assisting your team in developing evaluation metrics that provide business insights. You will take ownership of measurement strategies, define project milestones, guide agencies and vendors, delegate tasks, prioritize efforts, plan, and direct a team to ensure project completion. You will play a pivotal strategic and technical role in all aspects of media, marketing, and analytics, collaborating with internal teams to assess strategic initiatives. Your work will involve creating innovative solutions to demonstrate the effectiveness of Google’s media investments, tackling some of the industry's most challenging problems at Google's scale. You will ensure global consistency while maintaining regional focus, working with teams across different regions and marketing entities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Engineering, or Sciences, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with experimental design and both supervised/unsupervised machine learning approaches for regression and classification tasks.
  • Experience in root cause analysis to address problems at both tactical and strategic levels.
  • Familiarity with R or Python for statistical analysis and SQL.
  • Understanding of Bayesian approaches and modeling frameworks.
  • Ability to develop practical solutions for marketing analytics issues and leverage results to drive business transformation in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage expertise in data analytics to develop solutions for marketing challenges, identifying opportunities for measurement and optimization to advance brand and performance marketing.
  • Develop measurement plans, define tracking requirements, establish reporting standards, and set metrics and benchmarks for major campaigns to assess the incremental impact of marketing investments (e.g., conversion lift tests, matched market analyses, brand lift studies).
  • Collaborate with internal teams on advanced analytics, including experimentation, measurement, and modeling.
  • Implement a customer-centric, data-driven approach grounded in a people-based marketing strategy to build, segment, and test audiences for optimal business outcomes.
  • Create evaluation frameworks for large-scale models and new metrics, and investigate anomalies. Define and solve ambiguous problems by scoping technical priorities and innovating statistical methods.
