About the role
This position sits within Primark’s People and Culture team in Reading, England. The role is focused on payroll accuracy, compliance, and operational support, while contributing to an inclusive workplace where colleagues are valued and supported.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee designated stores or areas, ensuring payroll information is entered correctly, payroll is prepared on time, and all required checklists are completed.
- Carry out first- and second-pass payroll audit reviews to verify correctness and adherence to standards.
- Guide and support payroll associates through training, day-to-day coaching, and buddy support.
- Keep payroll trackers, calendars, and audit records up to date, and handle post-payroll administrative work as well as payroll-related queries.
- Work with payroll advisors, specialists, and other stakeholders, including attending meetings and recording minutes.
- Adapt your workload to meet deadlines and progressively take on wider responsibilities across the team.

Requirements
- Up to 2 years of payroll experience in either an international market or UK/NI payroll setting, together with a CIPP qualification or an equivalent credential.
- A strong sense of ethics and integrity, with good judgement about when issues should be escalated.
- A collaborative attitude, customer service awareness, and the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
- Strong organisation skills, excellent attention to detail, and intermediate-level proficiency in Excel and MS Office.
- A drive to produce high-quality work and look for ways to improve processes.
- Confidence working in a fast-moving environment while staying accurate and focused.
