Powder Coating Manager

About the role

Sigma Racks, a nationwide manufacturer of steel storage and display racks, is growing its Hyderabad plant and is hiring a seasoned Powder Coating Manager to take charge of the full finishing and dispatch operation. This position is suited to someone who values a high-quality surface finish and can maintain strong shop-floor discipline.

Role and responsibilities

• Run the end-to-end powder coating line, including pre-treatment processes such as degreasing and phosphating/zirconium, powder application, and curing oven activity.
• Monitor and adjust key process settings, including chemical bath strength, bath temperature, coating thickness within 60-100 microns, and oven curing cycles.
• Carry out quality verification for each batch through film-thickness checks, cross-hatch adhesion testing, and visual finish inspection.
• Oversee colour and shade changeovers, preserve approved master samples, and reduce contamination as well as powder loss.
• Manage stock levels for powder and chemicals, and compare actual usage against theoretical consumption to keep costs under control.
• Take responsibility for packing standards and dispatch activities, including vehicle loading, dispatch checklists, and coordination with the accounts team for invoice and e-way documentation.
• Supervise a team of 8-12 people across coating operations, pre-treatment, packing, and dispatch.
• Ensure compliance with effluent treatment and waste disposal requirements under Telangana PCB norms.
• Maintain safety standards, PPE usage, and 5S practices across the coating and dispatch zones.

Candidate profile

• 6-12 years of experience in powder coating or industrial surface finishing, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
• Practical knowledge of pre-treatment chemistry, electrostatic spray application, and curing oven control.
• Exposure to steel furniture, racks, sheet metal, automotive parts, or white goods is preferred.
• Qualification in Diploma or B.Tech in Mechanical, Chemical, or Production Engineering; candidates with ITI and strong relevant experience may also be considered.
• Solid understanding of finish quality benchmarks, film-thickness control, and adhesion testing methods.
• Proven ability to lead teams, enforce shop-floor discipline, and handle documentation.

Additional information

Compensation for this role is listed at INR 6,00,000 to INR 10,00,000 per year.

Work location: Hyderabad, India.

This is a full-time, on-site position.
