Role overview
This position is for an Operational Support Grade at HMP Full Sutton, where you would help keep a busy prison running efficiently and safely. The role is varied and active, combining desk-based duties with hands-on work such as lifting, carrying, escorting vehicles across the prison grounds, and other day-to-day support tasks.
What the job involves
You would be part of a team responsible for a wide range of operational support duties, including security checks and searches at the gate, handling deliveries, overseeing visitors, and monitoring phone activity and CCTV. The work supports the daily running of the prison and helps maintain order and safety.
Working pattern and location
This is a full-time onsite role in York, England, United Kingdom. The prison is in a rural location, so public transport may be limited. A driving licence and your own transport can be helpful, though they are not mandatory unless specifically stated otherwise. Shift start and finish times are fixed, so you must be able to travel to and from work punctually. The role includes a mix of shifts, including weekends and night shifts.
