About MAJC

MAJC builds workforce software for hospitality. The business focuses on helping restaurant operators retain and develop staff in a market where the sector is worth nearly $1.5 trillion, while in-store sales have fallen by 11% due to margin pressure from third-party delivery platforms. MAJC’s core idea is that a trained, retained workforce is the strongest remaining advantage for operators.

The company has created an AI-first workforce operating system that includes AI-powered job matching, a microlearning academy with certifications, a professional community, a portable worker identity called the MAJC Trading Card, and a personal MAJC AI Agent designed to support each worker’s career. For operators, the product also delivers workforce analytics, salary benchmarking, and tools that are intended to reduce churn in measurable ways. MAJC is venture-backed, already generating revenue, and sells to some of the largest hospitality groups in North America.

AI is not an add-on at MAJC; it is central to the product. The AI agent is treated as the main product, with the rest of the platform serving as supporting infrastructure.

Role Overview

This position owns the full hospitality product experience across both the worker mobile app and the operator-facing product layer. You will be responsible for strategy, roadmap planning, requirement definition, prioritization, and delivering shipped outcomes. The role reports directly to the Founder & CEO and works closely every day with a senior engineering team that operates fully remotely and uses AI heavily to build quickly.

This is a hands-on role in a fast-moving environment. There is no product management hierarchy and no buffer between you and customer needs. Every product decision must map directly to a real customer pain point.

What You Will Own

  • Set and manage the product roadmap by converting company direction and active enterprise customer needs into a clearly ordered sequence of work, while being willing to eliminate lower-value ideas so the team can ship the most important ones.
  • Start from real customer problems when defining work. Create concise problem statements and requirements grounded in operator and worker pain points, and validate enterprise features with named customers before engineering time is used.
  • Partner with an AI-enabled engineering team that uses tools such as Claude Code and Cursor. Write specifications detailed enough to support rapid AI-assisted development, and make judgment calls on what should ship, what should iterate, and what should be cut.
  • Define product quality for AI-powered capabilities, including matching, the MAJC AI Agent, and Academy content generation. This includes setting expected behavior, evaluation standards, and guardrails at the prompt and evaluation level.
  • Track and improve core business metrics such as activation, retention, certification completion, operator engagement, and churn reduction by ensuring the product is instrumented and measured effectively.
  • Run the execution rhythm through Linear, with clear acceptance criteria and short release cycles across iOS, Android, and web.
  • Represent the user perspective in every discussion by continuously speaking with workers and operators, then bringing those insights back into the product on a weekly basis.

Candidate Profile

  • You bring 3 to 7 years of product management experience and have shipped consumer mobile and/or B2B SaaS products end to end.
  • You are comfortable working on AI-native products and have already delivered LLM-based features in production. You can discuss model choice, prompt structure, retrieval-augmented generation, structured outputs, and evaluation methods with engineers in depth.
  • You are technically fluent and can navigate a modern TypeScript environment even if you do not write production code. Familiarity with React Native + Expo, Cloudflare Workers, Postgres + pgvector, multi-model routing through OpenRouter, and Stripe is expected, along with comfort reading schemas and API documentation.
  • You act like an owner, move quickly, and are comfortable making decisions with incomplete information. You prefer action over unnecessary process.
  • You write clearly and concisely, producing documents that help teams make decisions. You are customer-obsessed and consistently work backward from user pain.
  • You are based in the United States and can work during EST business hours.

Relevant Experience

  • Background in hospitality, staffing, HR technology, or workforce platforms.
  • Experience with marketplace or two-sided network products.
  • Direct hands-on use of tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar AI development tools.
  • Experience in an early-stage startup environment, ideally as a first product manager or in a zero-to-one setting.

How the Team Builds

The product and engineering stack is TypeScript-based and organized as a monorepo. The company uses React Native + Expo for iOS, Android, and web; Cloudflare Workers and Hono at the edge; Neon Postgres with Drizzle and pgvector; OpenRouter for multi-model AI routing; Playwright for testing; and Linear for execution. The team is intentionally small and senior, avoids unnecessary meetings, and uses AI tools aggressively across the stack. Major platform components have been rebuilt in days rather than quarters, and this role will help define the standard for what should be built at that pace.

Compensation and Commitment

  • Expected time commitment: 15 to 20 hours per week.
  • Hourly pay range: $60 to $85, depending on experience, with flexibility for the right person.
  • Location: Anywhere in the United States, with work aligned to EST hours.

Interview Process

The interview process includes a conversation with the Founder & CEO followed by a working session with the engineering leads. Candidates should be prepared to discuss one product they have shipped, including the decisions made, the trade-offs considered, and the metric influenced by the work.

Application Instructions

Applicants should send a brief note instead of a cover letter. The note should include one LLM-powered feature they have shipped, the customer problem it addressed, and the outcome it produced. A LinkedIn profile and anything live that can be reviewed should also be shared.
