About the Role
This contract opportunity is with Mercor, a company that connects highly skilled creative and technical professionals with top-tier AI research labs. The organization is based in San Francisco and is backed by investors such as Benchmark, General Catalyst, Peter Thiel, Adam D'Angelo, Larry Summers, and Jack Dorsey.
The position is for a Software Engineer expert working remotely at an hourly rate of $40 to $50.
What You'll Do
- Develop MCP servers in Python with FastMCP.
- Connect web and desktop applications to RL Studio.
- Work across APIs, Docker, Linux-based environments, and service setup/configuration.
- Add populate and snapshot hooks to support application state handling.
- Run apps locally and troubleshoot build, runtime, and permission-related issues.
- Confirm that applications satisfy platform checks and deployment standards.
What We're Looking For
- Advanced Python programming ability.
- Hands-on experience with APIs, backend systems, and technical debugging.
- Comfort working with Docker, Linux, and local testing processes.
- Experience handling configuration files and deployment workflows.
- Strong analytical thinking and careful attention to technical detail.
Preferred Background
- Exposure to FastMCP or similar tooling/frameworks.
- Background integrating external applications or developer-facing tools.
- Working knowledge of web applications, databases, and container-based setups.
