Role overview

DCM Integrated Solutions Inc. is hiring a Quality Control Inspector (Level II) to assist with quality control activities and quality records on an active industrial construction project in Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is a practical, document-heavy position where roughly 65% to 75% of the work focuses on managing quality documents, while the remaining time is spent supporting field inspections across welding, structural steel, piping, package boilers, and bolted connections.

The role demands strong computer proficiency because much of the day is spent scanning, filing, and uploading records into Hexagon SmartPlant Completions, as well as preparing turnover packages for record retention and handover. All documentation work must align with ABSA and ASME quality program requirements and the DCM Quality Control Manual.

This position reports to the Quality Control Lead and supports the project quality control program by helping ensure inspection and test records are created as work progresses and that the full documentation set stays ready for audit and turnover at all times.

Quality document control

  • Scan, sort, file, and upload inspection and quality records into Hexagon SmartPlant Completions.
  • Prepare turnover documentation and maintain records for retention and project handover in line with ABSA/ASME quality program requirements and the DCM Quality Control Manual, Section 33 on Records Retention.
  • Typical records include ITPs, material test reports and certifications, welder qualification and continuity records, NDE reports, heat treatment and PWHT records, pressure test records, non-conformance reports and dispositions, the project signature log, and as-built drawings.
  • Keep turnover packages updated throughout the construction phases so they remain ready for review, audit, and final transfer at any time.
  • Track and log completed inspection and test records against completed sheets across all project disciplines, including mechanical, piping, structural steel, electrical, instrumentation, civil, coating, and preservation.
  • Maintain logs for welder qualification, welder continuity, bolted connections, NCRs, and ITRs.
  • Confirm that ITRs are completed, signed, and recorded progressively with the work, and reconcile open and closed records against the applicable ITP or pressure-piping examination checklist for each discipline as required by the DCM Quality Control Manual.
  • Support accurate tracking of NDE and weld logs, along with material traceability records.
  • Maintain organized electronic files so records can be located quickly for client, ABSA, and Authorized Inspector review.

Inspection support

  • Carry out weld inspection support.
  • Provide inspection support for structural steel, piping, and package boiler work.
  • Inspect and verify bolted connections.
  • Check equipment preservation activities and confirm storage and preservation requirements are being followed and documented.
  • Review technical drawings and specifications before work begins to ensure the correct revision is being used.
  • Assist with material receiving by checking received items for damage and helping verify MTRs and prepare Material Receiving Reports.
  • Perform and record in-process and final visual inspections of fit-up and finished work to confirm compliance with applicable codes, client requirements, and the WPS.
  • Verify that monitoring and measuring equipment remains calibrated to the DCM Quality Manual or client requirements, whichever is more stringent.
  • Notify the client and/or Authorized Inspector in advance of ITP hold and witness points so they can attend.
  • Create NCRs when required, ensure non-conforming material is identified, segregated, and held until the approved correction is completed, and support corrective actions through closure.
  • Take part in audits conducted by the DCM corporate office, the client, and regulatory or jurisdictional authorities.
