Role overview

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join its Advisory and Programme Delivery team in Ireland. The position is based in Dublin or Cork and reports to the Senior Quantity Surveyor. You will support the commercial management of clean water, wastewater, and environmental projects, working closely with wider project and programme management colleagues to deliver outcomes that meet client expectations on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

What you'll do

  • Support commercial delivery across one or more projects.
  • Manage budgets and prepare month-end reporting, including actuals, monthly variances, accruals, and annual variances.
  • Track and report on risks.
  • Help prevent and resolve commercial disputes.
  • Provide advice on commercial strategy.
  • Review and recommend subcontractor acceptance.
  • Assess compensation events.
  • Evaluate monthly payment applications.
  • Carry out commercial audits.
  • Guide and support junior team members.
  • Work in partnership with client teams and internal specialists to manage project governance, stakeholder interests, and delivery risks/opportunities.

What we're looking for

The ideal candidate is either chartered or progressing toward MRICS status, with a clear commitment to continuing professional development. Experience in cost planning and working within a cost consultancy or multidisciplinary environment is preferred, along with exposure to contract administration, cost estimating, and NEC contracts. Background in water, environmental, or regulated sectors is desirable.

Essentially, you should be degree qualified or have an equivalent level of capability, be comfortable working independently and as part of a larger team, and bring strong IT skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. You should also be confident writing reports, presenting information, building effective working relationships, and adapting to changing demands. The role requires flexibility to travel to client sites and other company offices.
