About Britannica Group
Britannica Group brings together two respected knowledge brands: Encyclopaedia Britannica and Merriam-Webster. Britannica has been publishing since 1768, while Merriam-Webster dates back to 1828. Today, these digital-first brands reach a worldwide audience of more than 200 million users each month through websites, newsletters, social channels, games, and other digital products.
About the Content Studio
The newly launched Content Studio develops strong editorial, branded, and commerce-focused content for newsletters and websites. The team works with advertisers, affiliates, and sponsors to create stories that are useful, credible, and aligned with reader interests.
About the Role
Braundica Group is looking for a resourceful and proactive Sponsored Content Editor to manage all paid content across its media properties, including newsletter ads, dedicated email campaigns, branded articles, and related projects. This role reports to the Managing Editor and is based within the Content Studio while working closely with Sales and Partnerships, Advertising, and Affiliate teams on a daily basis.
In this position, you will write original, persuasive ad copy and develop branded stories that serve both audiences and partners. Success in the role depends on creativity, speed, strong organization, and the ability to balance client objectives with editorial standards.
Responsibilities
- Maintain Britannica’s high editorial bar so every piece of copy remains accurate, trustworthy, and engaging.
- Partner with the Managing Editor to oversee advertising copy for both email and web placements.
- Help establish the Content Studio’s quality benchmarks for production, editorial polish, and client experience.
- Work with the Managing Editor to plan and allocate budgets for branded campaigns.
- Create or commission branded stories that support client objectives while staying useful to readers and consistent with the brand voice.
- Coordinate with Sales, Partnerships, Editorial, Advertising, and Affiliate teams, and where needed, directly with clients to manage and execute partnerships.
- Use available data to guide strategy, from line-level copy improvements to the development of new campaign ideas.
- Review analytics supplied by Account Managers and apply insights to strengthen copy and improve results.
- Move smoothly between everyday ad-copy responsibilities and longer-form branded content assignments.
- Contribute an editorial viewpoint in brainstorms, campaign launches, and strategy discussions.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in branded content, advertising copywriting, or a mixed role spanning digital media and marketing.
- Strong understanding of media tactics and brand partnerships, with the ability to protect editorial voice while meeting client goals.
- Demonstrated skill in writing persuasive, results-oriented copy for multiple platforms.
- Excellent copyediting ability and comfort adapting content for different brand voices.
- Highly organized, deadline-conscious, and capable of managing projects effectively.
- Background working directly with sales, partnerships, or client-facing teams.
- Working knowledge of affiliate marketing and performance-driven campaigns.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Adaptable and versatile, with the ability to switch between short ads and long-form branded content.
- Self-directed and comfortable owning projects from start to finish.
- Ability to review outcomes and refine strategy based on performance.
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- Retirement options including 401(k) and IRA.
- Life insurance, including basic, voluntary, and AD&D coverage.
- Paid time off for vacation, sick leave, and public holidays.
- Family leave, including maternity and paternity leave.
- Short-term and long-term disability coverage.
- Training and professional development opportunities.
- Work-from-home option.
