About the role
This is a permanent full-time position based in Gore, with more than 60 hours scheduled per fortnight. The role suits someone who has strong ties to the local community and wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of adults with intellectual disabilities. You will help people live well at home and be active participants in their community, while bringing creativity and energy to each day.
What you will do
- Help people develop everyday living skills such as using public transport and preparing meals.
- Support personal care needs, including showering, dressing, and taking medication.
- Encourage individuals to follow their interests, hobbies, and personal goals.
- Promote healthy choices and overall wellbeing in ways tailored to each person.
- Provide calm, consistent support for complex behaviours while maintaining dignity, safety, and respect.
- Strengthen relationships with whānau, co-workers, and the wider community.
What you need to bring
No previous experience in the health and disability sector is required. A positive attitude, genuine interest in becoming a Support Worker, and willingness to learn are highly valued. Full training and orientation will be provided.
- Availability for flexible shifts, including weekends and sleepover duties.
- Confidence using computers and tablets as part of daily work.
- Good written and spoken communication skills.
- Physical fitness to provide hands-on support when needed.
- A full New Zealand driver licence is essential.

- Hourly pay of $24.68 to $30.13, depending on relevant qualifications, with potential to increase as qualifications are completed.
