Role overview
This position is for an experienced systems and database professional who works with moderate guidance to solve operational challenges, handle escalated issues from junior staff, and improve the stability and efficiency of IT environments. The role focuses on building and maintaining practical solutions for complex operational needs, including the creation of systems and database operating guidelines and standards.
The job also involves leading planned activities such as installing, configuring, and upgrading software, hardware, operating systems, and related processes. In addition, the role oversees patch implementation, reviews vendor release notes, troubleshoots difficult incidents, and provides technical support for advanced tickets. Daily monitoring of ZATCA systems and applications is required to confirm they are running properly and to share recommendations with the relevant stakeholders.
Systems and database operations
- Evaluate the current operating model for systems and databases, identify weaknesses and improvement areas, and stay updated on the latest industry practices and standards.
- Collect business requirements, guide database design activities, and review final capacity plans so that projects remain aligned with approved plans.
- Gather the operational inputs needed to run ZATCA systems and databases each day while maintaining strong performance.
- Coordinate daily systems and database work, and where practical, develop scripts and automation to reduce manual effort.
- Prepare maintenance implementation plans based on technical requirements and execute maintenance work with the help of relevant stakeholders to keep performance at an optimal level.
- Review and manage change requests for IT systems and databases, tracking execution so that requests are completed within the required timeframes.
- Handle and prioritize incidents and escalated tickets for systems and databases, ensuring troubleshooting and support are delivered according to business urgency.
- Track the health, performance, and safety of IT systems and databases, and suggest software or hardware improvements to support business goals and quality expectations.
- Examine systems and database performance reports, compare actual results with KPIs, and carry out corrective actions to improve outcomes.
Operations and organizational support
- Work in line with all relevant policies, procedures, and standard operating processes to ensure consistent and controlled delivery.
- Assist with resolving escalated issues and provide support to junior colleagues so work can continue efficiently.
- Escalate complex matters to the appropriate person to ensure problems are resolved correctly.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Team leadership
- Train junior team members on job-related tasks to support knowledge transfer when needed.
- Give clear instructions, organize priorities, assign work, and monitor the progress of junior staff or direct reports.
- Support team members in carrying out their responsibilities in accordance with established policies and processes.
Education and experience
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related equivalent field is required. The role calls for at least 4 years of relevant experience.
